A step-by-step look at Lumen Christi, a layered, tactile crucifix built through prayer, colour, and light. Every layer holds an intention. Every fingerprint holds a signature. Every darkened room reveals the glow that was there all along.

Step 1

Layers, prayer, and a hidden fingerprint.

Built through many layers of acrylic paint, this crucifix has been created with patience, intention, and prayer.

Hidden within the piece is my fingerprint, my signature.

Rather than signing my name, I leave a part of myself within every original artwork. It is a reminder that each piece has been touched by human hands, created with love, and is entirely unique.

No two fingerprints are ever the same, just as no two journeys of faith are the same.

When darkness falls, the crucifix softly glows, becoming a quiet reminder that even in our most challenging and darkest moments, the Light of Christ remains.

Step 2

Lumen Christi- Light of Christ.

Lumen Christi is Latin for "Light of Christ."

For centuries, these words have symbolised the light of Christ overcoming darkness, bringing hope, guidance, and new life.

They remind us that His light is not diminished by the darkness around us; rather, it shines all the more brightly within it.

This piece is an invitation to reflect on that enduring light, a light that continues to illuminate our path, strengthen our faith, and remind us that love is never extinguished.

Step 3

A crucifix that glows in the dark.

A crucifix that glows in the dark, a quiet reminder that even when everything around us seems dark, the Light of Christ remains.

Darkness may surround us, but it can never overcome His light. It continues to shine with hope, love, grace, and the promise that we are never alone.

Step 4

The Light of Christ.

This crucifix has many layers of acrylic paint, each one allowed to dry before the next was added, creating a surface that is both strong and richly textured.

This is a tactile piece. It was created not only to be seen, but to be felt.

Hidden within the artwork is a glow that reveals itself in darkness.

For me, it is a reminder of the words of Christ:

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.", Gospel of John 8:12

Even when the room grows dark, the light remains.

My hope is that, as you stand before this piece, it becomes more than a painting. May it be a gentle reminder that hope can still be found, faith can still endure, and the Light of Christ continues to shine even in our darkest moments.
