In the studio
The process.
Each piece moves through four slow stages — from first study to final finished surface.

01, Studies
Mornings begin with small studies in a A5 sketchbook, colour temperatures, edges, and the first sense of where the work wants to go.

02, Surface
Cotton paper is stretched and sized by hand. The surface is left to settle for a day before any pigment touches it.

03, First washes
Translucent washes are laid wet-into-wet. Each layer must dry fully, sometimes overnight, before the next is poured.

04, Final marks
The last gestures are made quickly with a loaded brush. The work is rested for two weeks before it leaves the studio.
